R&B sensation Beyoncé made headlines as the cover model for Vogue UK’s December edition, creating three different covers for next month’s edition of the magazine.
Shot by British Vogue’s youngest photographer Kennedi Carter, and interviewed by the magazine’s editor, Edward Enninful, Beyoncé details her life post-her Homecoming performance and post-Black Is King, the visual film that was a tribute to her Lion King: The Gift album.
Enninful described the singer as a perfectionist to the core, a Virgo in the true sense, adding that the singer wanted her Vogue moment to be, “filled with positivity as this trickiest of years draws to a close”.
The ‘Already’ singer posed striking her leg up in a Thierry Mugler elastic-nylon mesh panel jumpsuit for the first cover, IVY PARK x Adidas jumpsuit and oversized coat for the second, and Alexander McQueen for the third cover.
She also wears an assortment of luxury couture items for the 20-page fashion spread in the December edition of the fashion magazine, which was conducted via Zoom with Beyoncé’s team and the Vogue UK editorial team, due to covid-protocols preventing travel between the UK and the USA.
Having stayed relatively out of the limelight in 2020, Beyoncé has mainly made headlines from her Black is King film, her IVY PARK athleisure collaborations with Adidas and working with her BeyGood foundation to provide testing and supplies across America during the covid pandemic.
Speaking to Edward Enninful about husband JAY Z, her three children (Blue Ivy, Sir and Rumi), her social justice movements and her work with Disney – she said this specific period of her life was a period for her to have fun, a period of joy.
“I truly cherish this time with my family, and my new goal is to slow down and shed stressful things from my life. I came into the music industry at 15 years old and grew up with the world watching, and I have put out projects non-stop.
“I released Lemonade during the Formation World Tour, gave birth to twins, performed at Coachella, directed Homecoming, went on another world tour with Jay, then Black Is King, all back to back”, she told the Vogue editor.
“It’s been heavy and hectic. I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on building my legacy and representing my culture the best way I know how. Now, I’ve decided to give myself permission to focus on my joy”, she added.
In a lighthearted moment, Beyoncé adds that while she has created a large image of herself as a multi-faceted artist.
She reminds readers that there are still a few things that make her human, like forgetting her cellphone and materialising her nickname as “Queen B” through owning a number of beehives to create her own honey.
“I’m always losing my phone in my house or office, and I never know where my keys are. My phone is always dead.
I get days and dates confused all the time, but guaranteed, I’ll remember every detail of a conversation, what you were wearing or how your hair was styled. It’s absolutely ridiculous”.
