SPACE Jam is back twenty-five years later, this time with a new NBA superstar.
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James shared the official trailer of the sequel on Twitter, which he is starring in as the main character.
James will be joined by Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes gang in his first major starring role for ‘Space Jam 2: A New Legacy’.
In the sequel, LeBron James plays a heightened version of himself who struggles to form a close bond with his son named Don, who dreams of being a videogame developer.
Joining the Looney Tunes gang, James must defeat a squad of goons in order to rescue his son, when the two of them are sucked into a virtual reality after Don tries to steal some of his father’s social media followers.
The first ‘Space Jam’ film was released in 1996 with former NBA champion Michael Jordan starring in the lead alongside Bugs Bunny and friends.
‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ will feature a combination of live-action and traditional hand-drawn 2D animation with some CGI effects, similar to the setting of the first film.
The movie also features Zendaya as the voice of Lola Bunny and Don Cheadle.
It is set to be released on HBO Max and in select theatres on July 16.
