DRAKE and Nike are set to release a new athleisure collection ahead of the festive season.

The ‘Toosie Slide’ rapper teased the upcoming collection on Instagram but kept mum on what will be in the collection, as well as any designs.

According to sources familiar with the upcoming release, due on December 18, the capsule collection is only apparel – there will be no sneakers for this collection. The collection includes puffer jackets, hoodies, fleece pants, a track jacket, track pants, shirts, a hat and socks – all of which will be made in the colour palettes of black or black and gold.

For some fans, this collection has long been awaited because of  Nike’s relationship with  the rapper. Nike is Drake’s favourite athletics brand and Nike’s US headquarters featured as a location for the music video of Drake’s recent single ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’.

On the collaboration front, Drake and Nike’s relationship has spans almost a decade. The rapper’s deal with Nike originated when Drake was previously signed to Jordan, its brand subsidiary. The Canadian star announced his Jordan deal in 2013 and went on to release a number of retro Air Jordans up until 2018.

Drake’s first collaboration with Nike was a merchandise collection for the promotion of his single ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’ this year, that was exclusively sold on his website. The upcoming capsule collection is set to be made more widely available at various Nike retailers.
