Rising star Blue Ivy Carter steals show

MPHO RANTAO

BLUE Ivy Carter has stolen the spotlight from her mother Beyoncé.

Ahead of the near release of Beyoncé’s third collection with Adidas, nine-year-old Blue Ivy appeared in one of Ivy Park’s latest video campaign for her mother’s #icypark collection – a capsule of looks inspired by the icy winter slopes of the northern hemisphere.

Blue Ivy appeared alongside her mother in two outfits, the print outer jacket and sweats and dancing and swinging her silk pressed hair in a printed brown cropped jacket with brown faux leather pants and trainers while wearing a mask.

Her mother, Beyoncé, has been a huge cheerleader, roping her daughter in her campaign videos since the release of her first collection with Adidas back in 2020. Many have concluded that the young star always outshines her mother with her bright personality and dance moves.

Blue Ivy’s latest appearance caught the attention of die-hard Beyoncé fans, who cheered on the youngster, with some claiming that she was the true star of the video.

One fan, Areion, tweeted: “Blue Ivy is just so iconic. Always eating the girls up. I stan a legend.”

Another fan, Loulou’s World wrote, “I applaud Blue Ivy’s kindness to let those people star next to her in this video !!”

Blue Ivy’s grandmother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, said on Instagram that her granddaughter was not originally scheduled to appear in the campaign video like she had on previous occasions.

“My Beautiful grandbaby Blue Ivy looking like a little super model in her Ivy Park. Swing your hair Blue ,!!!!! She inserted herself into this shoot. No she was not supposed to be in it ! She was just hanging out and got dressed and I guess she said ‘I’m not gonna tell you what I could do I’m gonna show you.’ I love that aggressive spirit My Blue Blue!!!! ❤️,” Knowles-Lawson said in the Instagram post.

Another popular moment from the campaign video was when Beyoncé wore a brown thong bodysuit with a matching puffer stole over her shoulders. The scintillating pose revealed her butt as she turned to the side in the viral video – driving her fans wild.

Blue Ivy Carter has steadily become one of the most popular child celebrities in recent years, as she has made more appearances in her mother’s various projects.

The nine year-old has appeared on Beyoncé’s film Homecoming – the Coachella film that highlighted the singer’s landmark performance at the California music festival, as well as her journey to the performance after the birth of her twins, Rumi and Sir (now three years-old).

Blue Ivy was also nominated for her first-ever Grammy award this year for her feature in the song ‘Brown Skin Girl’, from Beyoncé’s 2019 album The Gift, where she sang a few lines from the chorus and has writing credits.

The Grammy Recording Academy originally only credited the young star as a writer but after speculation from fans on the omission of her name in the official nominee list, the academy later added Blue Ivy’s name to the list of nominees on their website

In an interview with British Vogue for her December cover feature, Beyoncé revealed that she and Blue have a special relationship when it comes to celebrating each other’s accomplishments.

“When I tell her I’m proud of her, she tells me that she’s proud of me and that I’m doing a good job. It’s teeeeeew much sweetness,” Beyoncé said. “She melts my heart. I believe the best way to teach [my kids] is to be the example.”
