SOUTH African comedian and Daily Show host Trevor Noah has been announced as the host for the upcoming 63rd Grammy Awards in 2021.
The Recording Academy made the announcement on Tuesday ahead of the 63rd Grammy nomination announcements for the upcoming award show.
Noah is the first South African to host the Grammy Awards, and will work with The Late Late Show’s Ben Winston, who was announced as the producer.
“Despite the fact that I am extremely disappointed that the GRAMMYs have refused to have me sing or be nominated for Best Pop Album, I am thrilled to be hosting this auspicious event,” Noah said in a statement.
“I think as a one-time GRAMMY nominee, I am the best person to provide a shoulder to all the amazing artists who do not win on the night because I too know the pain of not winning the award! (This is a metaphorical shoulder, I’m not trying to catch Corona). See you at the 63rd GRAMMYs!”
The Recording Academy echoed Noah’s excitement, tweeting “We’re thrilled to welcome @TheDailyShow host, Emmy-winner, and GRAMMY-nominee @TrevorNoah as the host of the 63rd #GRAMMYs!
We can’t think of a better person to serve as Master of Ceremonies for Music’s Biggest Night”.

As the United States deals with coronavirus pandemic, it remains to be seen if the Grammy Awards will be held virtually like the 2020 edition of the Emmys and the BET Awards, or it will have a partial audience and virtual audience similar to the recent Billboard Awards.
The Daily Show host will emcee the music awards ceremony, which is set to air on CBS on Sunday, January 31 at 3 a.m. Central African Time.
