After taking steps to understand the current details of BBA’s organization FIBA will assist in developing and implementing strategies for basketball development in Botswana. The initiative will assist in advancing federation growth and progression through sustainable strategic goals.

“The Botswana Basketball Association is delighted and honored to have been selected to benefit from the FIBA PLUS Strategy & Planning program. It is a welcome challenge for the Association to shift operations to the next level”, BBA President Boineelo Hardy told FIBA Basketball.

“This comes at a good time when the BBA Executive Committee is at the start of a new mandate, which gives sufficient time for training and implementation of the program.”

The support by FIBA will assist the BBA along the way with strong mentoring, workshops and tailored assistance. Botswana’s last appearance on the continental stage came in 2015 where the national team appeared in the African Basketball Championship (AfroBasket) tournament.

“We look forward to the many weeks of engagement and work over the next year, and certainly the implementation of the program. The benefit of developing a sustainable strategic focus in collaboration with FIBA will go a long way in strengthening the Association and its delivery to stakeholders.’’ Hardy said.
