AT least 151 people were killed and 86 injured in fighting in Sudan's Blue Nile state over recent days, medical sources said on Thursday, the latest outbreak of violence to rock remote conflict-weary regions. Despite a peace deal signed in 2020 with some of Sudan’s rebel groups in the western Darfur region and in Blue Nile and southern Kordofan, tribal fighting has steadily increased. Analysts blame the fighting on unresolved issues of land and citizenship as well as the militarization of tribal groups. SUDANESE security forces fired tear gas as thousands of Hausa protesters marched in central Khartoum on Tuesday, days after tribal clashes killed dozens in southern Sudan's Blue Nile state. Curfew declared in Sudanese towns after deadly clashes

SUDANESE authorities have declared an overnight curfew in two towns in southeastern Blue Nile state, close to the border with Ethiopia, after several days of tribal clashes in which they said 31 people were killed. Clashes spread in several towns on Wednesday after the killing of a farmer, before security forces made arrests and brought the situation under control, a statement from Blue Nile state's regional government said.
