Somalia expels Ethiopian envoy amid naval base dispute

SOMALIA said that it was expelling Ethiopia's ambassador, closing two Ethiopian consulates and recalling its own ambassador to Addis Ababa amid a dispute over Ethiopia's plan to build a naval base in the breakaway region of Somaliland. FRANCE has expelled a Tunisian Muslim cleric for "radicalism" and "unacceptable remarks", Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said in a statement on Twitter. "The radical Imam Mahjoub Mahjoubi has just been expelled from the national territory, less than 12 hours after his arrest. SOUTH Africa's governing African National Congress (ANC) said it has expelled former secretary general Ace Magashule after he was found guilty of violating the party's constitution. Magashule was suspended from the day-to-day running of the ANC in May 2021 as part of tougher rules for party members charged with corruption. THE Democratic Republic of Congo expelled a French journalist working for Reuters after her application for journalistic accreditation was not approved.
