Truck crash in central Nigeria kills at least 17 people

AT least 17 people were killed and 208 injured in Nigeria's Niger state after a truck carrying them veered out of control and crashed, the Federal Road Safety Corp said. Spokesperson Bisi Kazeem said the crash occurred at about 0200 GMT on Tuesday in Takalafia village, in the Magama local government area of the state. TWENTY people were killed night when a passenger bus in Chad crashed into a truck that was broken down on the roadway, the government said. The bus had 31 people on board and was on its way from the capital N'Djamena to the eastern city of Abeche. It crashed near the town of Oum-Hadjer, the government said.
