RAPPER Cardi B is making “money moves”, to quote her single ‘Bodak Yellow’.
According to TMZ, the rapper’s company Washpoppin Inc. has taken legal steps to secure the rights to the phrase “Bardi Beauty”, which could potentially be used across a variety of the rapper’s merchandise and other products.
Cardi’s company originally filed the papers on April 16, but news reports only surfaced when her company updated the court documents which both TMZ and Complex viewed.
The listed products from the application to secure the rights to the phrase include cosmetics, fragrances, hair care preparations, non-medicated skin care products, and nail polish. TMZ also points out that the documents show Cardi’s signature and list her as the CEO of Washpoppin Inc.
Cardi had earlier announced a partnership with Reebok for her Summertime Fine collection that is set to launch. The collection includes the previously announced apparel-matching colourways of the Cardi B Club C shoe.
“I’m so proud to announce my first apparel line with Reebok,” said Cardi. “This collection gives every woman the product they need to feel sexy and confident; the waist-snatching tights and curve hugging silhouettes make every body look amazing.”
The diamond-certified rapper also said that she was very confident about her Reebok collaboration, as she had told the media on the day of the announcement that she had personally tried on each piece before approving them for the collection.
Last September, Cardi B and her company had also reportedly filed documents aiming to secure her popular “WAP” phrase for potential products like liquor, clothing, accessories and soft drinks.
