One of Africa’s business leaders appointed chair of SBV Services

PROFESSOR Bonang Mohale, one of Africa’s reputed business leaders and academic, has been appointed as chair of the board of directors of SBV Services.

SBV Services is a leader in essential cash services to the Banks of South Africa including its four shareholder banks – ABSA Bank Limited, FirstRand Bank Limited, Nedbank Limited and The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited. It is also a service provider to the South African Reserve Bank.

Mohale, who is also chancellor of the Free State University, has an impeccable CV. He has held several leadership positions in the private sector and has been lauded and recognized with several awards over the past 25 years.

He was the chief executive officer of Business Leadership South Africa, chairman of Shell South Africa, chief executive Officer of Drake & Scupresident of SAA and managing director of Otis (Pty) Ltd, and currently a non-executive Chairman of Bidvest group. He is also a Professor of Practice in the Johannesburg Business School College of Business and Economics, serves on the boards of Swiss Re Africa Ltd and Rand Merchant Bank Ltd. He is the author of the best -selling book Lift as You Rise.

The Black Management Forum (BMF), an organisation that Mohale led as president., congratulated him.

The BMF said Mohale was also  known to be passionate about ethics and good governance, having punctuated his BMF Presidency on these pillars from 2012-2015. “As a BMF Stalwart, he continues to raise the bar of leadership and taking forward the banner of black excellence in corporate South Africa. We have no doubt that Prof. Mohale’s leadership will be a great asset to SBV Services and we wish him every success in his new role”, Nomlala said.

Mark Barrett, Group CEO of SBV Services, welcomed Mohale, who was a lead independent director before his appointment as chairperson.

Barrett also paid tribute to Mohale’s predecessor Dirk Reyneke, who chaired the board of directors for the past three years.
