The library club: taking African storytelling mainstream

“THE first place I head to wherever I’m travelling is a bookshop,” says Sylvia Arthur. So it’s no surprise that she has a dream to connect African readers with African authors through a project that she hopes will take off across the continent. The Library of Africa and the African Diaspora in Accra, or LOATAD, also turns an enduring stereotype – the myth that Africa lacks a culture of reading or writing – on its head.
