SUPERMODEL Naomi Campbell has joined the motherhood club.
Campbell, 50, made her surprise announcement on Instagram, sharing a picture of her craddling her new bundle of joy – a baby girl.
In the instagram post Campbell wrote, “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother, So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel. There is no greater love.”
Campbell has disclosed to media in the past that she had no intentions of starting a family unless she had met someone who she found could be a proper father figure.
In 2017, she had told Evening Standard magazine that she thought about having children all the time, but didn’t want to rush to make it happen at a specific time. “But now with way science is, I think I can do (it) when I want.”
A few years later in 2019, Campbell told WSJ Magazine in terms of starting a family, “Not yet — I’ll see what the universe brings me.”
Celebrities and fans of the 50 year-old model congratulated her Instagram and Twitter, sending wishes and messages of love to her and her new bundle of joy.
Trans model Munroe Bergdorf wrote, “Congratulations Naomi! ❤️” under Campbell’s Instagram post, while American actress and singer Ryan Destiny commented with: “Omg!! Congrats mama! Love you🥳♥️♥️”.
Actress Zoe Saldana shared her message of love with, “ oh my goodness congrats lady! What a blessing!!!”
Fashion designer Marc Jacobs commented, “Oh my God!!!!!! Today is the day?? How absolutely incredible. How lucky she is and how lucky you are! What a wonderful Mother you will be. Blessings all around. ♥️♥️♥️ ”
On Twitter, user Mothersille wrote: “Mutha is now a Mother. Congrats @NaomiCampbell!!”
@itcolebe shared their shock to the sudden announcement writing, “Apparently Naomi Campbell had a baby?????”
I Am Fashion news sent their congratulations, writing: “Naomi Campbell announced today that she is now a mother to a baby girl. Congratulations, Naomi!”
It is not known who Campbell is currently romantically involved with, but there have been reports that she has been seen with multimillionaire Louis C. Camilleri.
Her other romantic endeavours include her on-again-off-again relationship with race driver Flavio Briatore, and her 1993 engagement to U2 bassist Adam Clayton.
In the modelling industry, Campbell has adopted the role of ‘godmother’ to some of the younger black models, including the likes of Alton Mason and Adut Akech.
