ON October 21, South African woke up to a post by an aspiring beauty queen Shudufhadzo Musida. In the post with different poses, Musida posted photographs of herself, looking sultry and regal in a blue outfit, with a simple caption: “Today I feel like a queen…”
Today, Musida, who comes from Venda in Limpopo, woke as the No 1 beauty queen in all of South Africa. She was crowned MIss South Africa, succeeding Zozibini Tunzi, last year’s winner who spectacularly went on to win the Miss Universe title.
Musida was crowned at the prestigious event held in Cape Town. Thato Mosehle and Natasha Joubert have been crowned first and second runner-up, respectively.
She took to Twitter to express how she felt. “Just like that a life has been changed forever.
I carry with me the women that came before me so that tonight could be. May this year be one of purpose and change. My beloved South Africa, Ndo livhuwa. (Thank You),” she said.
Musida’s friends and fans took to social media platforms to congratulate her. So did her alma mater, the University of Pretoria, which posted this message: “A hearty congratulations to UP alumna Shudufhadzo Musida, who was just crowned Miss South Africa! Musida, who beat 2500 entrants, graduated with a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from UP.”
