FOUR Tunisian soldiers died in a military helicopter crash, the defence ministry said, after an accident that President Kais Saied attributed to the ageing of the Tunisian military fleet. A military helicopter crashed in northern Ivory Coast while on a reconnaissance mission near the border with Burkina Faso, killing all five crew members, the defence ministry has announced. An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the crash, the ministry said in a statement. Ivory Coast's borderlands with Burkina Faso have emerged as hotspots of insecurity in the past year following several attacks by Islamist militants believed to be linked to al Qaeda.

Over 10 Kenyan soldiers killed in helicopter crash

OVER 10 Kenyan soldiers were killed yesterday when a helicopter carrying them crashed while landing near the capital Nairobi, the military and local media said. The Kenya Air Force Mi 171 E helicopter crashed at around 9 a.m. (0600 GMT) in the county of Kajiado, the military said in a statement. At least 10 of the troops were killed and another 13 injured, domestic media reported, citing a government administrator in the area.
