FANS of South African musicians Mshoza – real name Nomasonto Maswanganyi – have paid warm tributes to the musician who has passed away in a hospital in Gauteng.
Mshoza (37) passed away at the Far East Rand Hospital after a short illness.
Her fans took to social media where they posted tributes to the musician popularly known as Queen of Kwaito.
The South African Musicians’ Rights Organisation said: Yet another loss to the music industry. It is with sadness that we acknowledge passing act of Kwaito star Nomasonto Maswanganyi, affectionately known as Mshoza.”
Her manager Thanduxolo Jindela said: “The Kortes hitmaker succumbed peacefully in the early hours of this morning.”
Socialite Khanyi Mbau, her close friend, bid farewell in a brief Instagram post: “Rest in peace, my love. I am tired of 2020,” she wrote.
Mshoza broke into the South African music scene in 1998 as a dancer for kwaito group Chiskop and soon emerged as a singer. She recorded her first album – Bull Dawgs First Lady – in 2002.
Away from her music career, Mshoza was also popular for her unique love for cosmetic procedures. She underwent several of them, including her skin lightening procedure.
