FAMILY and friends were in attendance for the American actor Chadwick Boseman’s memorial service, paying respects to the late ‘Black Panther’ star.
Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o along with other Black Panther stars attended the outdoor memorial service with Boseman’s spouse, Taylor Simone Ledward, to say their final farewells.
Photos published by The Sun showed the stars attending the memorial in Malibu, California, along with a photo of Boseman on display next to a floral arrangement. The memorial service also featured music being played from a hang drum.
Chadwick Boseman passed away aged 43 in Los Angeles in late August following a private four-year battle with colon cancer.
Touching tributes from his co-stars, celebrities and fans poured in following his passing, including from Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan, who posted a touching tribute to his late co-star on Instagram.
Boseman was also honoured in his hometown of Anderson, South California, with a public memorial and a public viewing of Black Panther in an outdoor amphitheatre where the public practised social distancing.
Fans across the world also sent praise for Boseman’s legacy for playing iconic roles, including the landmark role as King T’Challa of Wakanda in ‘Black Panther’ which was a historic moment in Hollywood.
Apart from his role as King T’Challa, Boseman has also portrayed black icons such as music legend James Brown, lawyer Thurgood Marshall and American baseball legend Jackie Robinson.
Boseman’s most recent film was Netflix’s Da 5 Bloods which was directed by Spike Lee.
