ACTRESS Jada Pinket -Smith has confessed to a romantic relationship with singer August Alsina, after first denying it.
However, Jada revealed that the affair happened while she and husband Wil Smith were on a temporary separation.
The confession came during the actress Facebook Watch show Red Table Talk to discuss Alsina’s allegations they had a romance.
She was joined by Will for the bombshell episode. The couple has two children Jaden (21) and Willow (19).
Jada 48) explained that she had met August (27), who was really sick, through their son Jaden. She and Will then spoke about the time and resources poured into helping the singer.
“From there you and I were going through a very difficult time,” she said to Will.
“I was done with you,” Will replied.
“We broke up,” she said, clarifying. “We decided that we were going to separate for a period of time and you go figure how to make yourself happy. I go figure out how to make myself happy,”
“And then what did you do, Jada?” Will asked.
And then the confession came. “From there as time went on I got into a different kind of entanglement with August,” she said.
Will asked her to clarify what the word “entanglement,” meant, to which she said, “Yes, it was a relationship absolutely.”
Jada was firm that she didn’t view her relationship with August as a transgression. Neither did she need permission from Will for it. The only person who would give such permission would be herself.
The affair ended four years ago. “And as I came through and started to realize certain things about you and I. He decided to break all communication with me which was totally understandable. And I let that be and hadn’t talked to him since so it is a little weird that all this stuff is coming out now.”
The actress spoke about her journey of healing and overcoming emotional insecurity and immaturity.
She said the couple was able to repair their relationship. “We have really gotten to that new place of unconditional love,” she added.
