Nadia Nakai and Khanyi Mbau joins search for Africa’s next trender

SOUTH African rapper Nadia Nakai and media personality Khanyi Mbau have been named as two-thirds of a judging panel for a new African show that’s looking for the continent’s next Online sensation.
Called ‘The Next Big Trender’, the show will consist of five up and coming African stars completing a set of tasks that will be by a panel that consists of Nakai, Mbau and Nigerian comedian Olalekan “Lekan” Olaleye. The show will be aired on new channel Honey, on Dstv channel 173.
The five contestants are Sheila King’ori from Kenya, Kutlwano Motla from South Africa, Precious Omoregie from Nigeria, Nadia Matovu from Uganda and Lharley Lartey from Ghana.
Hosted by South African Anele Zondo, the show will follow five aspiring social media influencers from Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Kenya and South Africa as they compete in front of the panel of judges and their most important critics – their online followers and TV audiences.
“In each episode, the contestants will show off their content creating skills with a sneak peek into their daily lives. The aim is to trend, lead and influence the social conversation”, read a statement by Honey.
“The most impressive influencers, as scored by the judges, proceed to subsequent rounds in a competition that runs over eight episodes.”
