AKA ‘inconsolable’ after fiancé tragic death

SOUTH African rap star AKA, real name Kiernan Forbes, was inconsolable and family as well as friends rallied around him as he battled to come to terms with the tragic death of his fiancé Anele Nellie Tembe.

Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the death of Tembe, 22, who fell to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town Sunday morning.

“It is with the deepest regret that we, the Tembe and the Forbes families, confirm the untimely passing of our beloved fiance, sister and daughter-in-law, Anele Tembe (22). Anele tragically passed on in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 11 April 2021.

“We are still in shock and a deailing with our emotions, as she was an exceptional and gifted  young woman with so much ahead of her. She had a sweet nature about her and was always nurturing those around her. Her fiance Keirnan Forbes, is currently inconsolable and is surrounded by family and closest friends. At this hour of our grief, we humbly request that our families be given privacy and time to heal.” 

Witnesses said paramedics arrived soon after a loud thud was heard and tried to save her life. Netcare 911, the first responders, said Tembe was in a critical condition when the paramedics arrived. “They started a full life support resuscitation. Unfortunately her injuries were too severe and she was declared deceased,’ said spokesman Shawn Herbst.

The hotel manager Efi Ella confirmed the incident and said police were investigating. 

Western Cape Police said crime scene investigators had gathered all evidence and clues needed and a full on investigation was underway. An inquest docket has been opened.

The tragedy occured hours after the couple, who got engaged in February, had fun, shopping and dining, in Cape Town. 

Fans of AKA and friends of Tembe took to social media to express their shock and condolences.
