NON-PROFIT organization, Scientology Volunteer Ministers (SVM) has spent 414,500 hours of volunteer work to assist South Africans in the war against COVID-19.
According to SVM, its members dedicated 15 hours a day, 7 days a week as part of their humanitarian work to help mitigate the spread in the country.
With a team of 300 volunteers, including about 40 pastors of various religions, they have worked non-stop to provide support for essential services who are at the forefront of fighting COVID-19.
“They have sanitized more than 24, 000 buildings including government offices, army bases, municipality buildings, clinics and hospitals, Metro Police Stations and buses and train stations such as Park Station which they sanitized throughout the night. This does not include the 670,507 taxis which they have sanitized at the tune of 13,000 a day.
“It is hard work, sweat and tears at time but seeing how vital it is and how people really appreciate the work, the tears dry up quickly and we keep at it,” said Sandile Hlayisi, a spokesperson for SVM.
The volunteer work of SVM has been warmly received. South African celebrity film actor Peter said: “From myself and on behalf of all South Africans, we are truly grateful and appreciate the help from the Scientology Volunteer Ministers.”
A Brigadier from Cape Town wrote: “Your assistance to the various entities in the country is so huge, it cannot be quantified in words.”
A former staff from the Ministry of Women wrote: “Excellent, noble and exemplary is the work of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers.”
An anti-drug volunteer wrote: “This is absolutely fantastic work you are doing. I don’t think you can quantify the good this is doing in our country and Africa as a whole.”
Hlahisi said: “We are empowered with the Volunteer Minister technology written by L. Ron Hubbard more than 50 years ago for South Africa. This comes with a big responsibility. And we use it at the service of our fellowman with pride and dignity.”
