African star makes Austrian Bundesliga history

AFRICAN MIRROR REPORTER

RED Bull Salzburg has unearthed another gem. Zambian striker Patson Daka, currently the highest scoring African player, set an Austrian Bundesliga record netting three goals in a mere 11 minutes.

Daka scored his first goal in 2 minutes 45 seconds and showed no signs of slowing down, achieving his brace in just under 5 minutes. In just 10 minutes and 28 seconds Daka would make history with his 27th league goal.

The achievement comes in the wake of the 22-year-old striker being named 2020-21 Player of the Season. The Zambian has netted 27 goals after 27 league appearances thus far and distributed a further seven assists.

“I am really proud of this and would like to thank all the presidents, club managers and coaches for the award,” said the Zambian international upon receiving the commendation.

“My biggest thank you goes to my teammates and coaching staff, however, who I would like to dedicate this honour to.” he concluded.

Daka seems to be forging his mould, since joining the franchise in 2017, next to similar Salzburg stars with the striker with a current goal tally of 34 goals with the season yet to conclude.
