My daughter was not suicidal – Nelli Tembe’s dad

AFRICAN MIRROR REPORTER

MOSES Tembe, the father of Anele Nelli Tembe, who fell to her death from the 10th floor of Cape Town hotel, said she was not suicidal.

Nelli, 22, was engaged to rap star AKA, real name Kiernan Forbes, the last person to see her alive. Nellie was laid to rest in Durban yesterday.

In a letter read at her emotional, yet elegant funeral, Tembe said: “I hereby categorically state that Anele was neither suicidal nor did she commit suicide.”

Tembe, in a letter read by businessman Sandile Zungu on his behalf, said South Africans had to deal, on an urgent basis, with the scourge that bedevils the youth. “Alcohol is overused and drugs. Fellow South Africans, we better wake up and smell the coffee, we have a serious problem with substance abuse.”

The father also had a special message for AKA:”I knew that Kiernan loved my daughter but their companionship needed more than love. It had to be premised and embedded only in a Godly foundation.”

Friends and family paid warm tributes to Neli. Music was provided by the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Neli’s uncle, Bongani Tembe and the Clermont Community Choir.
