My tribute to the great Shaleen Surtie-Richards who sadly passed away at the young age of 66. Did this drawing for Cosmopolitan 29 years ago. Shaleen brought “Egoli” alive with engaging warmth and humour. We loved her. The talented Shona Bagley wrote the story. pic.twitter.com/JPpaRHmWkm

We mourn the loss of a stage & screen legend, Shaleen Surtie-Richards (66). She will be remembered for iconic roles like Nenna in Egoli and Fiela Komoetie in Fiela se Kind. With that role in the final years of apartheid, she bridged the racial divide. #RIPShaleenSurtieRichards pic.twitter.com/Vf6AAEBUks

#ShaleenSurtieRichards had been filming in CT, she was supposed to fly back to Joburg tomorrow. Penguin Films says she had just completed filming the role of Muriel Foster on #Arendsvlei last week. Some of her cast mates are here to pay their respects. @eNCA pic.twitter.com/jdmeUP9yc0
