The weeklong farewell to TB Joshua

AFRICAN MIRROR REPORTER

A candlelight ceremony has kickstarted a week-long funeral programme of popular Nigerian televangelist TB Joshua.

Events that will culminate with Joshua’s burial began yesterday.  Joshua (57), the founder of The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) died last month.

The candlelight ceremony at the SCOAN will be followed by a 9-hour Tribute Service on July 6, which will be followed by a Service of Songs.

Joshua will lie in state on July 8, from 11 am to 5 pm and will be interred on July 9.

On July 11, SCOAN and his family will host a thanksgiving service.

Joshua’s wife is expected to replace him as the spiritual leader of the church.

The start of the funeral programme came after the government inspected the building of the church to ensure that it met all the safety regulations. In September 2014, 116 people died after the building collapsed.

Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, and Director-General of Lagos State Safety Commission, Lanre Mojola lead a delegation that inspected the church.
