Cameroon-born global football superstar rejects rape allegations

CAMEROON-born  French football star Kylian Mbappe has strongly denied allegations of rape that emerged in Swedish media. Mbappe dismissed the claims as “fake news” on social media according to the British tabloid Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail reports that French national team coach Didier Deschamps also addressed the situation following France’s 2-1 victory over Belgium in the UEFA Nations League. Deschamps expressed concern about the “negative atmosphere” surrounding the team due to these allegations.

According to the Daily Mail, the allegations stem from Mbappe’s recent visit to Stockholm, Sweden. Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet initially reported an investigation into an alleged rape at a central Stockholm hotel, without naming any suspects. Another publication, Expressen, later claimed Mbappe was the suspect in question.

The Daily Mail notes that Swedish police confirmed an ongoing investigation into a rape allegation from October 10 at a central Stockholm hotel, but did not name Mbappe as a suspect.

According to the Daily Mail’s account, Mbappe’s entourage released a statement calling the accusations “completely false and irresponsible” and stated that legal action would be taken to “re-establish the truth.”

The Daily Mail report mentions that Mbappe was in Sweden from Wednesday to Friday last week, staying at the Bank Hotel in central Stockholm. His visit included dining at a restaurant and visiting a nightclub before returning to his hotel.

It’s important to note that, contrary to the statement in the original text, the Daily Mail does not mention Mbappe being born in Cameroon. The newspaper refers to him as a French player throughout the article.
