President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has launched the official biography of late President Muhammadu Buhari, praising his predecessor’s integrity and commitment to public service while pledging to continue his work.
Speaking at the book launch in Abuja, Tinubu described Buhari as a leader who embodied discipline and service to Nigeria. The president extended condolences to Buhari’s widow, Aisha Buhari, and her family.

Tinubu, who served as a political ally to Buhari, recalled their partnership in building the coalition that led to the historic 2015 election victory that unseated the incumbent president. He noted that the coalition they formed has become the fastest-growing political party in Africa.
The president outlined four key pillars of Buhari’s legacy: humility, security, vision, and social justice. He emphasised Buhari’s preference for modest living and his belief that public office represented a trust rather than personal enrichment.
On security, Tinubu said Buhari recognised its foundational importance and invested in strengthening Nigeria’s armed services. He also highlighted Buhari’s focus on infrastructure development, including bridges, railways, roads, and airport modernisation.
“President Buhari loved this country consistently, morning after morning, decision after decision, staying true to the oath he took,” Tinubu said. “That is why even those who disagreed with him often acknowledged his honesty.”
The president stressed that honouring Buhari’s legacy required action rather than mere words, pledging to deliver results with discipline, compassion, and resolve.
Tinubu thanked the book’s author for documenting Buhari’s complex life and called for the biography to reach classrooms and libraries across Nigeria to inspire future leaders.
He concluded his remarks with prayers for Buhari’s soul and for Nigeria’s continued unity and prosperity.
